A More Interesting Idea for Feedback Card
A More Interesting Idea for Feedback Card
It was a cloudy day with a light drizzle, and there I was, darting around, trying different spots and angles, all in pursuit of the perfect photograph for this product. Despite my efforts, nothing seemed quite right. Sure, I had a few decent shots, but I knew they could be better. Just as I was about to call it quits and slowly made my way back to my computer, a magical ray of light suddenly broke through the clouds and illuminated my subject. It was the perfect moment. I hope your day is filled with such unexpected joys too.

Feedback Cards: A Necessity for Businesses?
Nowadays, we might hesitate to give feedback or post comments, but it's always beneficial to check others' feedback before making a purchasing decision. In today's competitive market, understanding customer feedback is crucial. Feedback cards offer a simple yet effective way for businesses to gather valuable insights and help improve products, services, and overall customer experience by providing direct communication between customers and businesses. They allow customers to express their opinions easily and providing feedback that helps businesses address issues promptly to enhance customer satisfaction.
When customers share their experiences, businesses gain insights into what's working and what needs improvement. This continuous feedback loop aids in refining products and services, ensuring they meet customer expectations.
Customer feedback serves as social proof. Potential customers trust reviews and comments from other buyers because they provide real-life experiences. This feedback helps build trust and credibility for a business or product.
However....
Just like those "Expectations vs. Reality" shorts from social media, reality might not always meet our expectations. While feedback cards are beneficial in many ways, they often get ignored. There has been a noticeable decline in the amount of feedback customers provide, with only about 10% of customers leaving feedback according to recent discussions. Feedback cards tend to attract polarized comments, either extremely positive or negative. This leaves out the opinions of average customers, who represent the majority and may have had satisfactory but unremarkable experiences or the other way around. But why is that?
Feedback Cards, a Additional Tasks
From our experience, we often ignore feedback cards even when we know they're there because they seem boring, we're too lazy to write, we don't see the value in providing feedback, and we lack the motivation to spend time on this extra task. After a long day of work and decision-making, filling out a feedback card can feel overwhelming and time-consuming, even though it actually takes just seconds. Or, when we're finally in the mood to leave a comment, we can't find a pen. Maybe a pen thief struck before us, and the staff are too busy to replace it. This is completely understandable as we tend to overlook small things, just like ignoring a 10-second feedback card, let alone a pen.
Feedback Fatigue
With the rise of online surveys and feedback requests, customers are experiencing feedback fatigue. They are constantly bombarded with requests for feedback, leading to a sense of overwhelm and a reluctance to participate. Which result in real life world leading to disinterest in providing feedback in general.
Inconvenient Location
Feedback cards are typically placed on tables to be easily accessible. However, in reality, they often get in the way when food is served. Diners may find them intrusive and move them aside, forgetting about them entirely as they enjoy their meal. This leads us to another issue: clutter on the table. Tables in restaurants are usually cluttered with menus, utensils, and condiments. Adding feedback cards to this mix can make the table feel crowded. Customers might find them annoying and push them away to create more space, resulting in a lower response rate.
Should we just take it out?
Despite some customers' reluctance to leave feedback, feedback cards remain a crucial tool for businesses. Many consumers heavily rely on reviews and comments to guide their purchasing decisions, highlighting the paradoxical importance of customer input despite its challenges in collection.
Reviews and comments are pivotal in the decision-making journey, offering valuable insights into product quality, reliability, and overall satisfaction. This feedback empowers potential buyers to weigh their options wisely and make informed choices.
Moreover, diving into this data reveals intriguing patterns and trends in customer behavior and preferences. These insights serve as a compass for businesses, guiding strategic decisions and enhancing performance through tailored training and development initiatives.
Strategies to Encourage Feedback
1) Encouraging Participation
While we can't force feedback, we can certainly lead the way. Discounts aren't as exciting anymore, especially since they're hard to get and usually come with a hassle like signing up and waiting for emails. Plus, you can usually only use them later, which isn't always appealing. It's a good idea, just not for everyone.
Here's another idea: Immediate Gratification Offers. Give customers instant rewards for their feedback, like a free drink, dessert, a little practical gift, or a discount voucher they can use right away or on their next visit. These visible perks could encourage more folks to take a moment to share their thoughts. Of course, businesses need to figure out their budget and strategy for making this happen.
2) Simplifying the Process
To attract more responses, simplify the feedback process as much as possible. Our goal is to design a straightforward and engaging feedback card that doesn't overwhelm customers with too many questions. Focus on identifying the most critical aspects of your business that need feedback and create simple, targeted questions around those areas. A simple feedback card has its limits, but businesses can encourage customers who want to share more to visit our digital or social media pages. They can leave detailed comments to provide deeper insights and reviews for other potential customers
3) Personal Touch Can Go a Long Way
A personal request from the server can make a big difference. When servers politely ask customers to fill out a feedback card, it adds a personal touch and increases the likelihood of participation. Additionally, businesses can control the distribution of feedback cards to minimize waste and effectively monitor their strategies.
4) Easy Submission Process
Make the submission process easy. If using physical cards, provide a visible and convenient drop-off point.
The decline in customer feedback poses a challenge for many businesses. However, understanding the limitations and challenges of feedback cards can help businesses use them more effectively. Simplifying the feedback process, demonstrating the impact of feedback, offering incentives, and providing multiple channels can all motivate customers to share their valuable opinions. Personal engagement and real-time feedback systems can further boost participation, leading to more comprehensive insights and improved customer satisfaction.
DIY Scratch-off Feedback Card
Step by Step Instruction
This is a detailed instruction on how our feedback card is created. While it may not be the quickest to make, it's certainly one of the most interesting and fun feedback cards you'll find.
Here's what you need for this project:

- Scratch off sticker
- Narrow Double-Sided Tape / Glue
- Printer (I am using a Epson ET2810)

- Get template from our video or design your own. I like to size my design to 9.9 x 7cm to get 9 cards that fit nicely into a A4 size paper and minimise cutting off waste.
- Print out template or your design. You can use thicker paper but bear in mind that not all printer can print on thick paper.
- Use craft knife and cutting mat, trim off white boarder and other require area.
- Apply double-sided tape to the center of all the borders, peel off the backing, and then stick the front and back pages together.
- Cut into card
- Stick Scratch-Off Sticker on desire area, and you're all set!
